The Sample Bag

Here is a story of three young sisters with birthdays coming up, and how one of our representatives Ms. Brenda Murray, dedicated herself to helping these three wonderful sisters. Upon reading this story The Sample Bag

, its owners, and its wonderful representatives decided to help Brenda out in her quest to fulfill these little girls’ dreams of having an awesome birthday party filled with gifts and things that these girls would otherwise not receive. It is our hope that we will accomplish this for these three sisters and show them that there is indeed love in this world. Even more than that, there IS hope, and good people out there willing to extend a helping hand to those that simply “do not have.”

Meet Kelsey she's the oldest of the three sisters, Makaela, the youngest in the pink jacket, the middle sister is Haley. (Photos shown above) As you can see they are very pretty sisters. Brenda first met Makaela two years ago when she was in Brenda’s kindergarten run. (Brenda is a school bus driver). At that time Makaela was living with her grandmother and Brenda just fell in love with this cute little red head. Everyday she would bring Brenda a gift of some kind, a flower, or a bag of cookies. One afternoon Brenda stopped and spoke to the grandmother and she filled her in on what was happening. Brenda’s heart just fell!! At that time Brenda didn't know that there were two older sisters. Brenda learned that the mother was a drug user who didn't care for her children. She would leave them alone and stay out all night while the girls slept in their beds. The grandmother was trying to take care of these girls until the mother went to jail and the court system stepped in. The grandmother was also trying to get custody, but her health wouldn't allow it. Around Christmas time the girls were still there and Brenda went by and picked them up, and took them Christmas shopping, they had a full day of just the four of them. It was a very nice day for them, as well as for Brenda, and of course Brenda just couldn't see them going without Christmas.

Finally the father stepped in and helped his mother (the grandmother) with the girls. Joe (their father) is a very nice guy and works hard to provide for his girls, but he is just a common laborer who doesn't make enough to pay all the household bills, even though he tries. Then one day the courts came and took the girls away. Brenda’s heart just sank not knowing what would happen to them. Brenda and her husband talked about finding them and taking them in themselves, but that never happened, and Brenda lost contact with the girls for about a year. One day while Brenda was in school she heard this little voice yell "Miss Brenda" Brenda turned around to see Makaela running towards her with her arms opened wide. “You just don't know the feeling that came over me.” Said Brenda, “Tears came to my eyes as I hugged her tight.” Joe was standing there and he said, “You must be Miss Brenda the bus driver.” I said, “Yes I am.” Brenda and Joe sat and talked until the bell rang. Joe told Brenda how much the girls loved and talked about Brenda all the time. How they would look at every bus that went by to see if Miss Brenda was driving. Joe finally got help through the courts to get his girls back.

The sisters now live less then a mile from Brenda and call her everyday. “These girls don't have anything, and I'm trying to give them the most important thing in life and that is Love! But I want to give them something else which they never had, and that is a birthday party for all three in August. I can't afford a lot myself, but if I can I will give what I can to see to it they have something.”

There is nothing more fulfilling then putting some smiles on three little girls that have gone though the mill at such young ages. It is The Sample Bags hope and wish to help Brenda, with anything that we can possibly do. Thus many of our wonderful representatives are donating items to where we will create either three individual birthday sample cakes, or three individual sample bags, one for each sister filled with goodies that they can use and enjoy!

“One thing I love to do is treat my grandmother with special treats to brighten her day. Let me tell you a little about Willie Mae…..she is a 78 year old woman who lives by herself in a small town in Tennessee. She is really an “Old School” type of gal, meaning she doesn’t buy herself much and would rather save every penny. She goes to church and the grocery store and that is about it for her travels. The elderly are often lonely and could always use a little entertainment. I often send her things like tea, notepads, small lotions, fun little dollar store gadgets, which pleases her to no end. Then I had a thought…….why not send her a sample bag. Holy guacamole! That was the ticket! She loved going through all the samples, reading about the different products and using all her little samples of fun. She got more enjoyment and entertainment out of that bag than most of the items I have sent her. One thing the elderly like is things for Free and this Sample Bag was full of little things to keep her busy. Even though she may not join in on an opportunity, who knows……she might order a product. This is now going to be something I do in the future and I encourage anyone who has an elderly family member to do the same.”
